Terms of Use

App: Saucepan
Effective date: November 13, 2026
Last updated: October 24, 2026

Welcome to Saucepan. These terms are the agreement between you and Gold Tech Solutions [[CONFIRM: legal entity name]] (“we”, “us”, “our”) for using the Saucepan app, its widgets and extensions, the Send to Your Inbox channels, Saucepan+, and our website at getsaucepan.com (together, “Saucepan”).

By downloading or using Saucepan, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Saucepan.

The short version

  • Saucepan is a personal cookbook. Your recipes are yours.
  • AI features can make mistakes, and nutrition numbers are estimates. Always check recipes, cooking temperatures, and food labels yourself.
  • Allergy flags are helpful hints, never a guarantee that food is safe.
  • Be kind in the community. Only publish recipes that are yours or credited adaptations.
  • Saucepan+ is billed by Apple and renews automatically until you cancel in your Apple ID settings.

1. Who can use Saucepan

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country, if higher) to create an account or use community features.
  • If you’re under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
  • You can’t use Saucepan if you’re barred from doing so by law, or if we’ve previously banned your account.

2. How these terms relate to Apple’s terms

You get Saucepan from Apple’s App Store. Your use is also covered by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”, https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/) and the Apple Media Services Terms. These terms add to the Standard EULA. If they conflict, these terms apply, except where Apple’s terms say otherwise. Section 22 has terms Apple requires.

3. Your account

  • You don’t need an account to use Saucepan. An account is needed for sync, publishing, following, comments, posts, Cook Together, Send to Your Inbox, cloud AI features, and push notifications.
  • You can sign in with Apple, a code sent to your email or phone, Google, or Facebook. If you use different methods with the same verified email address, they open the same account. If you sign in with your phone number, your carrier’s message and data rates may apply.
  • Keep your device and the account you sign in with (Apple ID, email, phone number, Google, or Facebook) secure. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Pick a handle and profile that follow the Community Guidelines. Don’t impersonate anyone. We may change a handle that misleads people or infringes someone’s rights.
  • You can delete your account anytime in Settings → Delete Account, however you signed in.

4. Your license to use Saucepan

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Saucepan on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by Apple’s usage rules.

Please don’t:

  • Copy, modify, or resell the app, or reverse-engineer it (except where the law allows)
  • Scrape, bulk-download, or mine other people’s content or profiles
  • Interfere with our servers, get around rate limits or security, or access accounts that aren’t yours
  • Use bots or automation to create accounts, follow, like, or comment
  • Use Saucepan to break the law or anyone’s rights

We own Saucepan, including its design, code, starter recipes, illustrations, and brand. These terms don’t give you any rights to our trademarks.

5. Your content

“Your content” means the recipes, photos, notes, comments, posts, and profile information you add to Saucepan.

  • You keep ownership. We don’t claim ownership of your content.
  • Private content (anything you haven’t published) is used only to provide Saucepan to you, such as syncing it across your devices.
  • When you publish or post, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display, and distribute that content, and to make technical changes (such as resizing photos or formatting text), only to run and improve Saucepan and show your content to the audience you chose (Public, Unlisted, or Friends), including on recipe link pages on our website. You can let us feature your public content in the app; we’ll ask before using it in advertising outside the app [[CONFIRM: ask-first for marketing use]].
  • Saving and adapting. When you publish a recipe, other users can save a copy to their own library and adapt it for their own use (for example with Make It Mine). Adaptations they publish must credit you, and the app adds that credit automatically.
  • When the license ends. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other users already saved to their own libraries, copies kept briefly in backups (see the Privacy Policy), and anything we must keep for legal reasons.
  • You’re responsible for your content. You confirm you have the rights to it and that it follows these terms and the Community Guidelines.
  • Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.

6. Recipes from other sources

Saucepan helps you save recipes from websites, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, cookbooks, and screenshots, including ones you send to your Inbox by Instagram, WhatsApp, or email.

  • Imported recipes are for your personal use. Saving a recipe in your library doesn’t give you any rights to it. The original creator keeps all rights to their words, photos, and videos.
  • Only publish recipes that are yours, or adaptations you’ve genuinely changed, with credit to the original source. A list of ingredients usually can’t be owned, but the words, stories, photos, and videos around a recipe usually can.
  • Never publish someone else’s photos or videos as your own, and don’t copy a creator’s full method word for word.
  • Saucepan keeps the source link and creator handle on imported recipes. Please don’t remove credits.
  • We aren’t affiliated with or endorsed by Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or any recipe website. Importing must follow those sites’ own terms.

7. Community Guidelines

These rules apply everywhere in Saucepan where other people can see your content: recipes, posts, comments, profiles, and handles. The friendly version is in our Community Guidelines [[CONFIRM: host COMMUNITY_GUIDELINES as a page]].

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Don’t post or do any of the following:

  1. Harassment or bullying, including threats, insults, and pile-ons, or encouraging others to do so
  2. Hate: attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or serious illness
  3. Sexual content, nudity, or anything that sexualizes minors (we report child sexual abuse material to the authorities)
  4. Violence or graphic content, or promoting self-harm or eating disorders
  5. Dangerous food advice, such as recipes that use non-food or toxic ingredients, unsafe canning or preservation methods presented as safe, or false claims that a dish is “allergen-free” or cures a disease
  6. Illegal activity, including drugs, weapons, or selling regulated goods
  7. Spam and scams, including fake accounts, misleading links, mass follows or likes, and unapproved advertising
  8. Impersonation of a person, brand, or creator
  9. Copyright or trademark infringement, including reposting creators’ photos or videos (see Section 6)
  10. Private information about other people (addresses, phone numbers, photos of people who didn’t agree)
  11. Malware, or attempts to hack or disrupt Saucepan

8. Reporting, blocking, and moderation

  • Report any recipe, post, comment, or profile from its … menu. Choose a reason, like spam, harassment, or copyright.
  • Block anyone from their profile. Blocked accounts can’t see your posts, follow you, or interact with you. You can unblock them in Settings → Blocked accounts.
  • We review reports and aim to act within 24 hours [[CONFIRM: operational commitment]]. We may use automated filters to catch spam and objectionable words before content is shown.
  • What we may do: remove content, limit who can see it, remove a handle, turn off features for an account, or suspend or permanently ban an account. For serious violations (for example, threats or child safety) we may act without warning and may report to the authorities.
  • Repeat infringers. We ban accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright.
  • Telling you why. When we remove your content or restrict your account, we’ll tell you in the app or by email what we did and why, unless doing so would be unsafe or unlawful.
  • Appeals. If you think we made a mistake, email support@goldtechsolutions.net within 6 months. A person will review it.
  • We don’t pre-screen all content and aren’t responsible for what other users post. Content from other users doesn’t reflect our views.

If you believe content on Saucepan infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent:

Copyright Agent, Gold Tech Solutions
[[CONFIRM: mailing address]]
Email: support@goldtechsolutions.net [[CONFIRM: consider copyright@getsaucepan.com]]

Your notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature
  2. A description of the copyrighted work
  3. The link to the content on Saucepan (use Share → Copy Link), or enough detail for us to find it
  4. Your name, address, phone number, and email
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you’re the owner or authorized to act for the owner

Counter-notice. If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or you have permission, send us a counter-notice with your signature, the content that was removed and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, your name, address, and phone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or for [[CONFIRM: county, state]] if you’re outside the US). We may restore the content in 10 to 14 business days unless the complainant tells us they’ve filed a lawsuit.

You can also report copyright problems from inside the app using Report → Copyright or stolen recipe.

10. AI features

Saucepan uses artificial intelligence to read recipes you import, suggest tags and summaries, recognize ingredients in photos, answer voice requests, adapt recipes (Make It Mine), plan meals, estimate nutrition, suggest ingredient swaps and lighter versions of a dish, and, if you ask, invent new recipes from what you have.

  • AI runs on your device first. Saucepan can also use a cloud AI model (currently DeepSeek V4 Flash, reached through OpenRouter) to read recipe text your device can’t read on its own, to estimate nutrition and suggest swaps and lighter versions, and, if you turn on Ask the Cloud When Unsure, to suggest tags. It runs only after you agree, and only while you’re signed in. See the Privacy Policy, Section 2, for what is sent and to whom.
  • AI can be wrong. It can misread quantities, units, temperatures, or times, miss an ingredient, or suggest a swap that doesn’t work. Review every imported, adapted, or generated recipe before you cook it.
  • Nutrition, swaps, and lighter versions are estimates from an AI model. They aren’t checked by a person and aren’t medical or dietary advice (see Section 13).
  • AI-made and AI-adapted recipes are labeled in the app. They haven’t been tested in a kitchen by us.
  • Ingredient recognition from photos is a suggestion. Always confirm the list before using it.
  • Don’t rely on AI features for medical, nutritional, or allergy decisions.
  • Don’t use AI features to create content that breaks the Community Guidelines.

11. Food safety

Saucepan is a cooking tool, not a food safety authority. Recipes in the app come from you, other users, websites, social media, and AI, and we don’t test or verify them.

  • You’re responsible for how you prepare, cook, store, and serve food.
  • Cook meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs to safe internal temperatures and check with a food thermometer. See FoodSafety.gov or your local food safety agency.
  • Be extra careful with raw or undercooked food, home canning and preserving, fermenting, foraged ingredients, and food for people who are pregnant, elderly, very young, or have weakened immune systems.
  • Timers and alarms are aids. Don’t leave cooking unattended because you’re relying on a timer, and make sure your device’s volume and alerts are on.
  • If a step seems unsafe or doesn’t make sense, don’t follow it.

12. Allergies and diets

The taste profile and allergy flags help you notice ingredients you want to avoid. They are informational only and never a guarantee that a recipe or food is safe for you.

  • Flags come from a fixed ingredient-to-allergen table. They can miss things: ingredients with unusual names, ingredients missing from the recipe, hidden ingredients in packaged foods (like whey, fish sauce, or nut oils), and cross-contact in kitchens and factories.
  • Saucepan never says a dish is “safe” or “allergen-free”. Fits You, 1 Swap, and Not for You badges are a guide, not a promise.
  • Always read the labels on packaged ingredients and check every ingredient yourself.
  • Recipes from other users, websites, and AI are unverified.
  • If you or someone you cook for has a serious allergy, follow your doctor’s advice and keep emergency medicine nearby. Saucepan is not medical advice.

13. Nutrition and health

Nutrition numbers are estimates and can be wrong, whether they come from the recipe’s source or from AI. Lighter versions and ingredient swaps can change how a dish turns out and what’s in it, so check them against your allergies and diet yourself. Goals are optional. Nothing in Saucepan is medical, dietary, or nutritional advice, and it isn’t a substitute for a doctor or registered dietitian.

[[TODO: when Apple Health logging ships, add that logging a meal to Apple Health writes estimated values, and that Saucepan isn't a medical device. Not built yet.]]

14. Saucepan+ subscriptions

Saucepan+ is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks extra features. Core features (saving recipes, Cook Mode, timers, plans, groceries, friends, and allergy flags) stay free.

  • Billing. Saucepan+ is sold and billed by Apple through your Apple ID. The price, length (monthly or yearly), and what’s included are shown in the app before you buy. Prices may vary by country and include any taxes Apple charges.
  • Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple charges your account for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Free trials. If you’re offered a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Apple decides who is eligible, usually one trial per Apple ID.
  • Cancel anytime in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in the App Store app. You keep Saucepan+ until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your Saucepan account does not cancel your subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds ourselves.
  • Family Sharing. If Family Sharing is on, Saucepan+ can be shared with up to five other members of your Apple family group.
  • Price changes. If the price goes up, Apple will notify you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree before your next renewal.
  • When Saucepan+ ends, your recipes and data stay. Saucepan+ features stop working until you subscribe again.
  • We may add, change, or remove Saucepan+ features over time. If we remove a major feature, we’ll tell you in advance.

Saucepan works with services we don’t control, such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, email providers, recipe websites, and social apps. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and we’re not responsible for them. Links to outside sites are for convenience, not endorsement.

Send to Your Inbox. When you send recipes to Saucepan by Instagram, WhatsApp, or email, only send things you’re allowed to share, and don’t use these channels to send spam or anything that breaks the Community Guidelines. We may limit how many items wait in your Inbox, and we may turn a channel off. Anyone who knows your private Inbox email address can send to it, so keep it to yourself, and make a new one in Settings if it starts getting junk.

16. Changes and availability

We’re always improving Saucepan. We may add, change, or remove features (including community features, which we may turn off in some or all places), and Saucepan may sometimes be unavailable. We’ll try to give notice of big changes. Keep your own copies of recipes that matter to you, for example by exporting them.

17. Ending these terms

  • You can stop using Saucepan anytime. To delete your account and server data, use Settings → Delete Account.
  • We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, create risk or legal exposure for us or others, or if we stop offering Saucepan. Where reasonable, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.
  • Sections 5 (license for content others already saved), 9, 11 to 13, and 18 to 22 continue after these terms end.

18. Disclaimers

Saucepan is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Saucepan will be error-free or uninterrupted, that recipes or AI output will be accurate or safe, or that your data will never be lost.

Some places don’t allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be waived.

19. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill.
  • We aren’t liable for illness, injury, allergic reactions, or property damage from preparing or eating food, or from following a recipe, AI output, timer, or allergy flag.
  • Our total liability for any claim about Saucepan is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid us for Saucepan+ in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $50.

These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.

20. Indemnity

If you publish content or misuse Saucepan and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, to the extent the claim comes from your content or your breach of these terms. This doesn’t apply if you’re a consumer in a country where this isn’t allowed.

21. Disputes

  • Talk to us first. Most problems can be solved quickly. Email support@goldtechsolutions.net and we’ll try to resolve it within 60 days.
  • Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [[CONFIRM: state]] and US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
  • Where. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in [[CONFIRM: county, state]], except that either of us can bring a claim in small claims court where you live.
  • If you live in the EU, UK, or another country with mandatory consumer protections, you keep those protections and can bring claims in your local courts.

[[CONFIRM WITH COUNSEL: whether to add an arbitration agreement and class action waiver for US users. Not included in this draft.]]

22. Apple terms

These apply because you got Saucepan from Apple’s App Store:

  1. These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for Saucepan and its content.
  2. Your license is limited to using Saucepan on Apple-branded products you own or control, as allowed by the App Store usage rules (including Family Sharing).
  3. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Saucepan.
  4. If Saucepan fails to meet an applicable warranty, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Saucepan.
  5. We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about Saucepan, including product liability claims, claims that Saucepan fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
  6. If someone claims that Saucepan infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and handling it.
  7. You confirm you’re not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and you’re not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. Questions, complaints, or claims about Saucepan go to us (see Section 25).
  9. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you.

23. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we’ll tell you in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless the change is required by law or needed to address safety or abuse sooner. If you keep using Saucepan after the change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, stop using Saucepan and delete your account.

24. General

  • These terms, the Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines, and Apple’s Standard EULA are the whole agreement between us about Saucepan.
  • If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don’t enforce something right away, we haven’t given up the right to enforce it later.
  • You can’t transfer these terms to anyone else. We can transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and we’ll tell you if we do.
